Ever since humankind stepped forth from our caves, we have lived alongside monsters, or cryptids. From the iconic Sasquatch and the mighty thunderbird to the fickle fae folk of Britain and the whale-eating makara, cryptids come in all shapes, sizes…and levels of danger.

Eventually, humanity formed a global organization to keep the peace: the Hunters. As some of the world’s best trackers, marksmen, and scientists, their duty is to maintain balance between humans, cryptids, and the ecosystem, whether it’s through research, relocation, or, of course, hunting.

Born and raised Oklahoma Cherokee, Sam White Owl is a Hunter who has spent over 30 years facing down dogmen, wendigo, emela-ntouka, and so many more. He’s taken on more than 100 hunts, both alone and alongside friends and his beloved Heather, and he believes it’s time to share his knowledge and his stories. Now, following a series of narrated online videos, Sam has collaborated with his nephew Elías Ramos to bring the first 10 of these letters into one unified collection.
