Ever since humankind emerged from our caves, we have lived alongside monsters, or cryptids. From the iconic Sasquatch and the mighty thunderbird to the fickle fae folk of Britain and the whale-eating makara, these creatures come in all shapes, sizes…and levels of danger.

Eventually, a global organization was formed to keep the peace: the Hunters. Their duty is to maintain balance between humans, cryptids, and the ecosystem, whether it’s through research, relocation, or, of course, hunting.

Born and raised Black and Oklahoma Cherokee, Sam White Owl is a Hunter who has spent over 30 years facing down dogmen, wendigo, emela-ntouka, and many more. He’s journeyed across the world on more than 100 hunts, often alongside friends and his beloved Heather, and he believes it’s time to share his personal knowledge and stories. Now, following a series of narrated videos, Sam has collaborated with his nephew Elías Ramos to bring the first 10 of these letters into one unified collection.
