Sam White Owl's
Letters from a Cryptid Hunter

Ever since humankind stepped forth from our caves, we have lived alongside the beings known collectively as monsters, or cryptids.
From the iconic Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest and the mighty thunderbirds of the Great Plains, to the fickle fae folk of Britain and the whale-eating makara of the Indian Ocean, cryptids come in all shapes, sizes, and of course, levels of danger.
Eventually, needing to share the world with so many of these creatures led to humanity forming a global organization to keep the peace: the Hunters.
As some of the world’s best trackers, marksmen, scientists, and inventors, the Hunters’ duty is to maintain balance between humans and monsters, be it through research, relocation, or, of course, hunting.
Born and raised Oklahoma Cherokee, Sam White Owl is a Hunter who has spent over 30 years tangling with the things that go bump in the night. He has been on more than 100 hunts, both alone and alongside other Hunters, including friends and his beloved Heather.
After facing down dogmen, wendigo, emela-ntouka, and so many more, Sam believes it’s time to share what he knows and what he’s done. Now, after a series of narrated Internet videos, he has collaborated with his nephew Elías Ramos to bring the first 10 of these letters into one unified collection.
Sam’s letters are part survival guide, part memoir, incorporating cryptid ecology, cultural lore, and history alongside his own experiences. Featuring brand-new illustrations, expanded and polished text, extra monster information, and an exclusive new story involving Sam’s recent trainee Mei, the first book of Letters from a Cryptid Hunter showcases the accounts and knowledge of Sam White Owl in an all-new way!
